Snug Cove on Bowen Island
Bowen Island, or “The Rock”, is near Vancouver, B.C., in western Canada. It’s in Howe Sound, between Horseshoe Bay and the Sunshine Coast.
To visit, take a 20-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay (cars and walk-ons), or 35 minutes by water taxi (foot passengers and bikes) from Granville Island, Vancouver.
Here’s a suggested schedule if you are coming to Write on Bowen festival for the day:
From Horseshoe Bay: Catch the 9 a.m. ferry, then take the shuttle bus up to Festival Central at the Gallery @ Artisan Square to register, grab a complimentary cup of coffee and a muffin, and then attend the first workshop at 10 am. You can catch the 5 pm ferry home or stay for the Saturday dinner event and catch the 8 pm, 9 pm, or 10 pm ferry.
From Granville Island: Catch the English Bay Launch from Granville Island (below Bridges Restaurant) at 9 a.m. and catch the 5:15 or 7 pm water taxi home. It’s important to book first, as the water taxi fills up fast on weekends.
